In this episode: FAQ is : Since airlines don’t provide food on flights, what is the best airport food service?  Today’s Destination is: Glacier National Park Today’s Mistake-  Don’t always follow Google Maps Travel Advice:  Pick your room at a hotel.    FAQ: Joan asks, Since airlines don’t provide food on flights, what is the best airport food service?    Answer:  Since airlines are not feeding most people, your robotic and app-powered food delivery service is growing in airports. There are firms that allow you to order, pay and pick up food from participating airport restaurants.  There’s a firm called, “At Your Gate” that has a service where a robot brings you food in the Los Angeles Airport. Their slogan is “don’t fly hungry.” You can order a day ahead of your flight if you wish. Overall, I prefer to bring my food to the airport, but in case you can’t

Fort Myers, FL

Please leave a review of the book/episodes on Amazon, where other women like you can learn to travel. In this episode: FAQ is: What are the best snacks to bring on a trip? Today’s Destination is: Fort Myers, Florida Today’s Mistake- I Couldn’t sleep Travel Advice:  Pack an extra toothbrush FAQ: What are the best and easiest snacks to bring on a trip? Answer: My favorite snack food is nuts, mixed with a trail type snack that’s packed in small baggies by me. I buy larger sizes and transfer them to the size that I need for my trips. I mix it up a bit, with the ingredients, such as berries, coconut, seeds and other non-salty flavors. If I am craving salty snacks, I like the idea of edamame or popcorn. Even cheese can help me with satisfying this craving. The only other favorite is fruit, but most of the time this will need to be chilled.   https://www.today.com/health/9-cheap-healthy-snacks-when-you-re-craving-something-salty-t192259 Today’s destination: Fort Myers, Florida Fort

5 Steps to Solo Travel: Step Four

I ’ve been traveling independently for decades and soon to release a second guidebook: 5 Steps to Solo Travel on Amazon and I hope you buy it May 8, Mother's Day. Please share this with your parents, loved ones and future travelers, so you make their trips the very best. Why did I start being Dr Mary Travelbest nearly 30 years ago? I identified that there was no formal way to learn how to travel safely by yourself. When I was looking for this information, there was none available. Now, there is information, but not for the older woman, so this is for you! If you are mid-life or older, I hope you pay attention here, because we are going places.  Here is a recap of the  earlier steps……briefly, Step One is your first solo trip, nearby overnight.  Step 2 is state to state travel, Step 3 is to a far away state or nearby country, Step 4, now, is to a far country and Step 5 is to a country where you don’t speak the language.   What is Step Four?   Step 4: You’re already taken sever

You are now at Step 3 and you are more accomplished than most travelers, even if you don’t realize it. To advance to Step 3, you must have already  visited different parts of the USA, various regions within your country, and

After arriving at your destination, you might visit  local sites on this trip  through public transportation, such as the train, bus, or trolley. If there is a zoo, spend a few hours wandering through it as a nature exploration. Go to a park and walk the perimeter. Packing Tips. Trave

5 Steps to Solo Travel: Step One

What is Step 1?   It’s the first of five steps that will bring you to the level you wish to travel. Only this is by yourself solo, or with a friend, independently, but not on a guided tour.  The steps in order: briefly, Step One is your first solo trip, nearby overnight.  Step 2 is state to state travel, Step 3 is to a far away state or nearby country, Step 4 is to a far country and Step 5 is to a country where you don’t speak the language.   Before I became a solo traveler, I was shy and introverted. I did not have confidence in myself. I was often quite lonely and sad, and my life felt unimportant. I was bullied by my so-called friends as a young teen. These so-called friends smeared oil and grease from carbon paper all over my body and mocked me. This has never been publicly shared before, as I was shamed. The experience of travel has lifted a burden from my past and now I can share the lessons I have learned throughout this book—of new places to see and favorite places to revi
