Destination: Road Trip: Durango To Phoenix

The first place that catches your eye is the UNESCO World Heritage Mesa Verde National Park when you drive west from Durango. I would love to stop there next time to see the Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. That is on my list of places to visit on my next trip. You can see 700 years of culture in this place, in a half day!

Both sides of the freeway are scenic with monuments for 25 miles, Kayenta is one of the towns.

Thinking of Forrest Gump. Tom Hanks movie. Was running along the road, and then he stops. He just did. It reminds me of that road, back in 1994 when he did an ultra ultra marathon and then just ended it in this beautiful valley. See show notes for details.
