Today’s Destination is: Nerja and Frigliana, Spain Today’s Mistake- Leaving my house key on the rental car keyfob. Travel Advice: Pack the night before, or earlier FAQ: How can I find a good tour, they way I like it? Answer: Independent travel is the opposite of a tour group, however, there are times when you will need to be on a tour, based on the destination. Everyone has their own idea of what makes a good tour and tour guide. Want a list of the best tour companies of 2021? Top for singles is Exodus Travel and for seniors Eldertreks. Today’s destination: Spain’s Mediterranean coast of Frigliana and Nerja If you are heading to the area near Malaga, south of Grenada, Spain, I would suggest visiting Frigliana and nearby Nerja. Friends from Ireland, Jill and Don Herlihy were my hosts on a fall trip to this area. They are both tour guides and have the gift of storytelling. https://www.simplyenjoytravel.com/places-to-see/spain/visiting-frigiliana-hidden-gem-andalusia/ In the Spanish days of the past, clay tiles were formed on the thigh of the worker. Christmas time is special. Load up a burro with a picnic and head to your picnic destination for a delight. In the early days traffic here was mostly by mule. Paths were the silk transport arteries. Fish from coastal Nerja and nearby were hiked over the mountains to Grenada, overnight, a 50-mile trek with burros. Whoever’s burro got the fish there first got the best prices as they were the freshest. The town of Nerja is a walking town and I loved swimming in the Mediterranean Sea there, even in late fall. Visit the Caves of Nerja, weather permitting. These caverns are one of the major tourist attractions in Spain. Concerts are held inside the chambers, where there is a natural amphitheater. See show notes for details. https://www.nerja-turismo.com/en/nerja-caves/ Today’s Mistake- Leaving my house key on the car rental fob. I rented a Turo car for several days in Atlanta and it was a good experience overall. However, I left a house key on the keychain when I returned the vehicle. That was not a smart move. When you return your rental car, make sure you don’t have anything left behind, including a key. I also have left items in the storage bin between the front seats. Double check your car before you return it. Today’s Travel Advice-Pack the night before, or earlier If you wait until the day of your trip to pack your suitcase, it’s likely you will forget more than one important item for your trip. Get your bag packed the night before, even if you’re going on a short trip. You will sleep better, knowing your bag is ready to go. You will likely forget fewer items, too. Travel Planning: Ecuador

Ecuador: planning Listener Story Spotlight I want to tell you about a listener named Pat who loves to take 40-minute walks. She does one every day. We have traveled together to Spain and have been ski buddies for over 10 years. She's a superb figure skater and loves cats. Maybe you even know my friend. Her last name is Brown, inspiring me to go to the Galapagos Islands this year. Thanks, Pat, for that encouragement.   The FAQ for today is:  How do you choose your outfits for weather conditions that constantly change? The answer is more straightforward than you think: It's basic colors, basic footwear, and layers, including a layer of insulated and waterproof clothing with a hat. You can also buy things along the journey, so if you don't have one now, you can get one later. What brings you more confidence? Is it knowing where you are going to sleep tonight? Is it knowing the language? Is it knowing you don't have to worry about anything? Let me know your thought...
